We are always surprised by how many of our guests staying in Sundance don’t actually ski. We wonder what draws them to the mountains, but are quickly reminded by how many things there are to do that don’t require the activity or skill level of downhill skiing.

Our children are spending more time indoors doing what kids do now. When they are forced into the harsh outdoors they're most likely on their way to some structured activity. The result is they are out of touch with fields, streams and woods. They need to explore! We call this condition nature deficit disorder and we believe we have the solution.
Just because my choice of the perfect getaway is Stewart Mountain Lodging in Sundance, Utah does not mean that my 16 year old daughter would agree...actually, she would probably rather disagree just for the sake of doing so.
We held our first annual Autumn Equinox party at Hanks. Our dear friend and talented Chef Kris Dews hosted a private party on the stream, under the stars. It was an intimate group of 25 guests and close friends, gathered to enjoy and share this beautiful time of year in the mountains.
There is nothing more breathtaking than the fire red maples, golden aspens, tall deep green pines all against the Rocky Mountains. Throw in a pocket of snow below the luminous peaks of Timpanogos, a single-track bike path and voilá, Shangri-La in your backyard.
Gourmet food, great live music and an enchanting location all in Sundance, UT. We were just happy to be part of such an incredible event with wonderful friends, both old and new. We have a feeling this will be the first of many more to come.

Sorry for my tardiness but here's certifiable documentation that the "Porch Fish" had a strange day...
Day One at Sundance, Shakes and I went fly-fishing, something she'd always wanted to do. My husband is an obsessed fisherman, so I had tried fly-fishing before. Jeremy, our guide, was great looking and personable, and he supplied all the gear, snacks and instruction we would need. It was a picture-postcard, River-Runs-Through-It perfect sort of day. Suited up in our waders and boots and equipped with fantastic rods, we were ready to take on the Provo river and hook some brown and rainbow trout.

I silently slipped out the door of the Salt Lake City convention hall, leaving behind the horde of overly zealous, juiced up conventioneers. Free at last. My rental car and I headed southwest toward Sundance
