Springtime may be right around the bend, but that doesn’t mean the ski season’s ending here in Utah. Grab your skis and come experience what Sundance, Utah has to offer this time of year. We are located 60 minutes from the SLC airport and 45 minutes from Park City, UT. This is where the Olympic athletes come to train in conditions and terrain fit for an Olympian. Utah has eight ski resorts all within one hour of the Salt Lake City airport. We don’t know any other metro city that can say the same thing- Denver? Anyone? We have something for everyone here in Utah- family friendly, challenging trails, and of course, no shortage of snow. Looking for some more excuses to head west? We have over 25 cabins, cottages and mountain homes we offer nightly for your spring break, winter vacation or any other time you want to come up and enjoy. View Lodging

We can’t promise you waist-deep powder in March and April but we can say it has happened more often than not. Gloomy grey New England skies- we don’t know what that is- all Western sunshine here. So hop on an early flight to Salt Lake City- you can hit the tarmac by 10 and get in your boots and forget about lifes responsibilities all afternoon. Park City’s three ski areas, The Canyons, Deer Valley, and Park City Mountain, are just a 45 min drive from Sundance, UT. We are a little lower in elevation than most ski areas in Utah but there is an upside to that. We are not over built and over run by high-rise hotels and condos covering every square inch of available ground. See blog post “Condo Hell”. We live on a mountain where preservation takes priority over development and our cabin rentals will offer you the privacy and luxury you are looking for.

Ski Deer Valley via the Jordanelle Express Gondola

When you are ready to test out a neighboring mountain we have a very close option we think you will enjoy. If you believe in the traditional sport of skiing and can leave the board behind, we recommend driving over to Deer Valley. The best part about Deer Valley besides the manicured slopes, limited ski passes sold and remarkable views is you are closer to skiing their runs than you think. Deer Valley offers the Jordanelle Express gondola off U.S. Highway 40 just outside of Heber, UT. This is useful for those coming from Sundance, UT and can get you on the lift within 30 minutes. When you’ve skied until until your heart is content, we are certain you will be happy to turn around and head back to your peaceful hideout in Sundance, UT.

Utah’s infamous powder is trademarked “the greatest snow on earth.” We call it the Great Salt Lake Effect: When lake water rises into the clouds, producing squalls of light, fluffy, dry snow that dump on the nearby Wasatch Mountains. This has been known to cause a highly contagious “powder flu” – it happens ever year among skiers, causing employees arriving to work excessivley late, absences and extended vacations. We recommend a higher SPF so when you do go back to work it won’t be as obvious and punishments won't be as severe.
