Fish Hard, Rest Easy

We had the privelege of spending some time on the river with two guides that opened our eyes to the challenge, enjoyment and excitment of fly fishing on the Provo River just minutes from our front door. We needed to experience the river first hand so we can recommend what many guests travel for thousands of miles to do on the Provo River. Our guide Michael shares his thoughts below from our day on the river...

With the weather improving, in fact its darn right beautiful in the mountains, its the perfect time to come for a relaxing stay at Stewart Mountain Lodging and plan to fish the Provo River.  On a recent day, we brought many fish to hand including a bonafide 22" 4 pound rainbow! The lower and middle Provo continue to fish well for bulldogging browns and acrobatic bows!

Size #18 Sow Bug and a size #18 mayfly dropper were the ticket. Tight lines!

Good Ol' Boys Are Not Alone

Fly fishing has become increasingly more and more than just a "mancation". The fly fishing industry is seeing a surge of interest in women taking to the rivers with rod in hand. Luckily we have miles and miles of river access with plenty of room for everyone.

Stewart Mountain Lodging is a cast away from world-class fly-fishing on the trout rich Provo River.  From beginners to experienced, the Provo River offers anglers of all ages, a  chance to land a trophy size brown or rainbow trout just minutes from your door.

There are so  many elements of enjoyment once you are out on the river all suited up for what you've been anticipating for months. What our guests have enjoyed the most about staying with Stewart Mountain Lodging is our location. Sundance, UT is a 60 minute drive from the airport and just 5 minutes from the Lower Provo River. The close proximity between the SLC International Airport and our nightly cabin rentals is just one of the perks of staying with us. After a day on the river it is a quick drive back home where you can continue to relax and enjoy a true mountain setting. Many of our Sundance cabin rentals are located right on the stream, nestled amongst towering pines or perched on a ridge with spectacular views.

Brian and Michael had in impressive day on the river landing several trout of their own while giving me a crash course lesson in nymphing, blood knots, indicators, rod loading, mending and all about the presentation. We loved every minute of it!
